German President Horst Koehler believes the reunification of the two Koreas could come sooner than expected. In an interview with Yonhap News,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Koehler said he based his observation upon Germany's experience.
The President,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who will be in Seoul this coming Sunday through Wednesday on a state visit,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], added that South Korea would be able to overcome the political and economic challenges that follow reunification.
He also noted that the country is receiving a lot of attention from the international community as a chair and host country of a G20 summit this year and that it can play a constructive role towards a new global governance,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
According to Cheong Wa Dae,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Koehler is scheduled to hold a summit with President Lee Myung-bak during his visit next week.
In the interview with Yonhap,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Koehler also said that Germany and Korea can expand cooperation in eco-friendly technologies such as developing renewable energies,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while adding that the two sides also need to cooperate in culture,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], education and science to take advantage of their full potential.

Using a 10-meter leash,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the family members walked the dog downstream from the site. When the dog started barking at a 15-centimeter deep point in the river, rescuers dug sand from the river bed and discovered Park's body.

So, watch yourself. Practice better listening skills with your friends and family. Remind yourself to put your listening ears on at the beginning of the conversation. Keep an eye on how you listen. Make any necessary adjustments during a conversation – especially if you find yourself thinking about your next statement or question. Repeat back to the other person the things they just said. This is a great way to confirm for yourself that you are listening well.
What ears do you listen with? To your co-workers,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], clients,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], prospects,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], family,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], friends? When it comes to the sales process,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this can be a minefield. They are usually thinking about the next question they want to ask, or the next point they want to make.

Quite often, this is because they are uncomfortable with the sales process. This uneasiness causes them to focus on how they are communicating,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], feeling, reacting. They aren’t ‘in the moment.’ But good listening skills are essential to successful sales efforts. It is essential that you master the ability to use your ‘listening ears.’

Whenever you are having a conversation with someone, focus on what that person is saying. Really absorb their words, intonation,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and body language. The more they will believe that you are genuinely interested in their needs, wants, and desires. The problem with this is that they miss important information. Not only do they not hear vital information, but they leave their prospect with the impression that they are only interested in the sale. They don’t really care about the needs,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pains, desires of their prospect. This can be deadly.
The better you get at using your listening ears, the more you’ll learn about other people. You’ll be amazed at all you discover about the people and world around you.

The workouts at 12 Daewoo subsidiaries are feared to be on the verge of becoming futile due to a lack of cooperation from government authorities and a revolt among minor shareholders,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who are against rescue plans established to date. The head of the government��s Corporate Restructuring Committee Oh Ho-keun, who is also the chair of the Daewoo group��s restructuring steering committee, said Tuesday in an interview with the Chosun Ilbo that creditor banks have been unable to make headway with their voluntary workouts of Daewoo units due to the absence of active cooperation from the government. According to Oh, without the support of authorities, there is a good chance that the workouts will end in failure,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which would in turn open up risk for another economic crisis.

According to Oh, it appears that the offering price could end up being the main factor in deciding which firm will win the bid.

There is no doubt that life throws us many tests—slow lobs, fast-balls, curve-balls, sliders, knuckle-balls, under or over-handed throws and screw-balls. All you have to do is take a hard look at where you are today and what you had to do to get there. And if there is a gap between where you are and where you really want to be, all you have to do is confess failure in not passing these tests you were confronted with (even the ones you couldn’t have possibly passed with who you were at the time). And, what the failure was all about was not exercising the best possible character that was called for, because not doing so was easier and more natural, and maybe even what other people told you was best, given the predicament you were in at the time and where you were at with your own personal development.
• Everybody has the same common purpose in life and the only things that are different are in how we choose to discover this common purpose, whether we ever do or not, and then carry it out or not.
• Patience in delaying the immediate need gratification affliction that comes with the common illusion that you can quickly and easily get something for nothing, until you finally realize life really doesn’t work that way.

To learn, grow and improve into our best selves to pass adversity tests, that prove our making progress at the only thing that can help us to pass those tough tests—good character-building. Character-building seems to be the one thing we do that is rewarding in and by itself,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], rather than being an intermediate reward bringing something else better, like money. Exercising a good character, especially in difficult times, just feels right and proper without any need for external validation of what else you get from being that way.
• Honesty in dealing with reality exactly the way it is and not the way you think it should be or may want it to be.
• Devastating heartbreaks in early and later love.
• Failing important tests in school because you didn’t pay attention or study hard enough.
• Not making a sports team or extracurricular club in school.
• Hurting someone else because you didn’t follow the “Golden Rule” or being unfairly bullied yourself.
• Not giving your job your full attention, losing it and not being able to find another one.
• Spending more money than you have coming in, putting more and more on plastic where you can’t feel the debt pain.
• Not being consistent in disciplining your children, getting challenged by their dreadful problems and not knowing what to do.
• Not eating or exercising right,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], not feeling good or being at your best, and losing out on opportunities because of it.
• Not using time smartly to get the things that matter most done.
• Not knowing how to grow old gracefully.
What is very odd about these different answers to the purpose question is that not any one is sure to bring you a better, more successful and satisfying life. Regardless of this apparent uncertain reality,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I do think that a good case can be made that work, play and relationships are all founded on one common purpose. This common purpose is:
A large part of successful parenting is the passing on of important basic values in character-building. These values are necessary to pass life’s tests that are sure to come, often when we are least prepared. The relationship between these core values and successful test-taking is not what is in question; but rather how much of these values you have developed and are able to call up when things get tough. The values that are needed most for our kids to pass their tests are:
• Optimistic hope that positive beliefs can result in a positive outcomes in passing the tests, if you make a good enough effort and don’t quit,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], while being assured that another opportunity will come if you do fail.
“Life is a promise; fulfill it.”~ Mother Theresa.
I have been thinking about this question for a long time now during my life’s educational classes—my journey through formal schooling, interacting with a wide variety of people,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], working in several different careers, observing nature closely, learning from “teachers,” listening to different religions’ church sermons,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], reading many books, and watching lots of movies. The tentative conclusion I have come to is that there are three main possible answers to the question:
• Teamwork in helping others to be successful in their test-taking,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], by being the good character that applies all these other values when times are toughest.
• Everybody has a uniquely personal purpose to carry out in life and living is a challenge to find out what this purpose is and how to best carry it out.

How do you get your employees to focus on work when the market and economy have everyone frightened? How do you encourage people to be productive when their emotions are vacillating between rage,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], dismay, helplessness and financial worry? It is not an easy task. The major challenge is to control what you can. You can control your reactions to this climate. If you have management authority,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], people are looking to you for your response. Here are ways to restore peace and productivity to your workplace.

Consider bringing in outside help. If your work environment seems to be suffering,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you may want to bring in a stress management counselor. If productivity is low, you may want to hire a facilitator to help people focus on what this financial crunch means to your business right now and what you are going to need to think about for the future. If people are concerned about retirement and meeting daily expenses, it may be time to bring in a financial counselor.
There is good news. You just may have to listen and look harder for it. Offer prizes for stories which discuss the good going on the community.
Have a cause that people can rally behind. Consider sponsoring a clothing drive,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], donating blood,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], raising money, writing encouraging cards to people in the armed forces or bringing holiday gifts for the less fortunate.
Try to turn the attention to the good that is being done. Unlike reaction to the terrorist attacks, there is a more positive attitude about financial rescue. Many state the current economic challenges can be overcome. Experts are on the job. Attention is finally being focused on the financial state of our government. Countries understand that what happens to the United States economy affects them as well and are pledging their support to a solution.
To the extent possible stop the gossip and speculation. People will need to talk and there is a need for information. However,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], too much time spent talking about the financial and political climate is not productive. Remind employees that there are top people in charge of making difficult decisions.
Encourage employees to get help. If you have an Employee’s Assistance Program (EAP) or counseling services, encourage people to use them. Some of your employees may suffer from stress. Others may need to deal with family members or close friends who have lost significant amounts of money, lost a home or been laid off. Refer your employees to professionals who are trained to help them get through these types of situations. Sing the praises of your own hometown heroes. There are people who are doing amazing things around you to support both the community and to keep business going as usual. People are watching your body language and listening to everything you say with scrutiny. You do set the example and the attitude for the office. Communication from key people is critical at this point. Tell your people that you don’t know how this may affect the business, but it has been around through worst situations. Remind your folks that it is up to everyone in this office to pull together and do what can be done to get business in the door and keep the business you have. There is a need to watch expenses and where you spend your time. Recovery will rest on what Americans do best: stay positive, find a creative solution and work with determination until the problem is solved.
